Food Travel To Paris At Le Train Bleu Restaurant

Le Train Bleu restaurant is a grand survivor of France's Belle Epoque, a stunning reminder of a time when travel by train was an ultimate luxury. It is the perfect place for food travel. Travel Paris today and the restaurant, located one grand staircase flight above the tracks at the Gare de Lyon, is a must visit. Every centimeter of the walls are adorned with fanciful golden décor. Massive chandeliers illuminate the painted ceilings and walls.

All of this lends a very palatial atmosphere to the restaurant, which was inaugurated by the French president himself in 1901. During the late 1960s the station and restaurant were at a low point, and the building had even been slated for destruction. It was actually saved by a famous American writer, M.F.K. Fisher, who loved the place and had connections in high places. They managed to persuade the French minister of culture to spare the place and restore it as symbol for French heritage.
